Yangon, cosmopolitan city of Myanmar, still maintains its colonial charm with wide, tree-lined avenues, tranquil lakes and gracious turn-of-the-century architecture. The magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda dominates the city. Here it was where I found my inner peace. Walking around for hours before and after sunset was a real treat. I observed the scenery, the monks, the novices and the wonderful smell of all the incense which gave the place a holy spirit.
At street level Yangon is a great place for hunting out a variety of exotic arts and crafts. For many hours I wandered around the National Museum, fascinated by all the exhibits on four floors. Some evenings I was eating at Chinatown which was located near my hotel. It comes alive with pungent aromas and delicious street food.
And last but not least: I was riding the local circular train which takes you from Yangon Railway station in a 3 hours loop all around the suburbs. And besides, here you can discover the real rural life in areas, where tourists usually never go.

Fantastische Fotos!!
Ich bin immer etwas zögerlich, was Fernreisen angeht.
