Pittsburgh has more bridges than any other city in the US.
Pittsburgh as a city was never really appealing to me. Due to the circumstances I spend some days here. And I like the place.
Once it was an industrial center crowded with steel and coal factories. Today’s city has a reputation for being one of the more livable metropolitan areas in the country. It is hilly and has more bridges than any other city in the US.

Steel and coal production dipped during the Great Depression but rose again because of mass-produced automobiles in the 1930s.
Teeming with students from the many universities in town, it’s a surprisingly hip and cultured city. „We have enough jobs here“, says Ray, a Pittsburgh born taxi driver, „we need just more young and well educated people.“

Youthful, funky and bustling is the city at its South Side.

A bit like the East Village in New York City.

Historic funicular railroads run up and down Mount Washington’s steep slopes.

A must: Sightseeing.

By land and on the water!

Market Square in the City Center.
Pittsburgh’s pride is the local NFL football team. The Steelers achieved a remarkable run of four Super Bowl championships. And the Pittsburgh Pirates are a professional baseball club that competes in Major League Baseball. They compete in the Central Division of the National League, and play their home games at PNC Park.

Sport is a big business in Pittsburgh.
