Many of my English speaking followers want to know what is going on with the so called „Breed list“ in Denmark. I did some research, also getting hints by animal activists. I put everything together for your information.
Over 400.000 dogs are now in danger in Denmark. The Danish Government has passed a breed ban law, 13 breeds are now forbidden in Denmark, and also any mix of these breeds.
The Government has introduced reverse burden of proof, so the owners of dogs that look like these breeds, now have to proof that they are not, which as we all know, can not be done with DNA. If you can’t lift the burden of proof – the dog will be euthanized.
TASSO – a well known animal organization in Germany advices all dog owners not to travel to Denmark.
Thanks to Irene Thuricke Sönnichsen who provided an English version of the Danish Dog Act from 2010:
