Ich verreise. Nur übers Wochenende. Was soll ich mitnehmen? Wie immer ist das die große Frage. Möglichst das Richtige, und nicht zu viel! Wie oft landen Sachen in meinem Koffer, bei denen ich schon im Voraus weiß, dass ich sie nicht anziehen werde. Oder vielleicht doch!
Auf alle Fälle machen riesige Gepäckstücke keinen Sinn, zum einen, weil ich sie selbst tragen muss – auch Rollenkoffer muss man mal heben! – und weil es immer Klamotten darin gibt, die ich ungetragen, dafür aber vollkommen zerknittert, wieder mit zurückbringe. Ist das ein Frauenproblem? Ich hoffe, dass ich nicht die Einzige bin, der es so ergeht.
Euch allen wünsche ich ein schönes erstes Sommer-Wochenende, zumindest kalendarisch betrachtet. Es wird wieder einer dieser Sommer werden, von dem ich auch noch im Winter zehren kann. Wie jedes Jahr!
Denn diese drei bis vier Monate brachten bis jetzt immer Überraschungen, die ich nie erahnt und erwartet hätte. Deshalb liebe ich diese Zeit so, denn auch diesmal wird es wieder so sein.

I take myself back in time and travel again the Highway I-10. Short time after I passed the outskirts of El Paso I see large cattle ranches with thousands of cows on wide farm areas. Then I am leaving I-10 for heading north into New Mexico on I-25.

There are those nights in which I find it hard to fall asleep, because my mind can’t stop.
Nights in which I still feel like I’m dreaming and my life looks more incredible than ever. Nights in which I’m proud for having believed in myself, and for always having around people who could really understand my vision.
I dream of a world in which age and social status are not important anymore, but ability and creativity are.
New Mexico: A place outside of this world, disconnected from the idea of time and the frenetic rhytms of life. A place where I rediscovered some of life’s smallest pleasures, like a hike in the middle of the woods and the smell of the rocks.
Now I only am dreaming of coming back.

I still remember the day not long ago I received a handwritten letter from a friend, who lives very far away. There are a few things that make my heart sing and exactly this letter was one of them. I met my friend long time ago, when I lived in the US. He still considers the time with us and me as the best of his life. He wrote:
„Dear S.
Every story has a beginning, but I will start mine here. For us this was a journey of a lifetime, where dreams were made and broken, where friendships were cherished and torn apart. We lived the life of aspiration. We told the tale of victories and defeats that came with growing up at a younger age on the brink of greatness and fame. In our world youth, beauty and riches combined. Our parties were legendary, our travels exotic and carefree. We were becoming stars.“
