Der 8. August 2017 steht ganz im Zeichen der Katze: Heute ist der Internationale Katzentag. Er wurde 2002 von der Tierschutz-Organisation International Fund for Animal Welfare ausgerufen. Das Anliegen der Aktion ist es, das Bewusstsein für die Bedürfnisse der Katze zu schärfen. Artgerechte Tierhaltung und die Bekämpfung von Vernachlässigung und Misshandlung stehen im Mittelpunkt.

Today is the International Cat Day, inaugurated for the first time in 2002 by the organization International Fund for Animal Welfare. 

As cat owners around the world prepare to celebrate this special day, cats in Asia and other parts of the world are being abused, neglected, and in some countries, killed for their meat and fur.

For them, there will be no celebration. Their world is one of heart-breaking misery.
