I got a wonderful present from my Indian colleague Jagpreet. I found it on my desk when I returned from travelling. Very touching is the story behind it:

„Those earrings I specially bought from a lady, who sell them handmade in the market. Most of the time I buy some artificial jewellery from her and during my many visits, I asked her one day about her life and her family. She told me that she creates jewellery with some other ladies in order to earn income for their families.

Her husband gets always drunk and is never spending some money for the family. So it is this lady who has to earn something to run her family. She has a daughter who also helps her to make this, but she said, this income is not sufficient to maintain the family. But she continues to sell those pieces. 

So, most of the time I buy earrings from her because I like her spirit. She looks very motivated and I told her that this time I am buying them for my German colleagues. When she listened to this, she was so happy and excited.“
